Rust enters the Linux kernel

In 2022 something happened that seemed impossible: the Linux kernel, the core that runs everything from servers and phones to ATMs and medical equipment, began accepting code written in Rust. For more than three decades that heart had been written almost exclusively in a single language. Opening the door to another wasn’t a technical whim: it was a fundamental decision about how we want the software we depend on every day to be.
